ACTIVITIES WITH CHILDREN

The Sunday School for children aged 5-11 meets in the Choir Vestry and stage area during the Sunday morning Mass. Thanks to generous donations we have been able to purchase resources for the Sunday School including a TV for showing instructional Videos for religious education.

For the under 5's there is supervised Creche.

For the 11+ age group there is a Senior Sunday Fellowship which along with Creche and Sunday School will provide an integrated approach to our young: the new dedicated team will be ready for 12th September 2004.

The Parish of the Good Shepherd subscribes to the Diocesan policy on Child Protection and our Childrens' Advocate is Kathryn Hughes. All personnel working with young people are police checked, and any new member of the congregation working with children is police checked as a matter of course, unless of course they already have appropriate and recent clearance.

WORK IN THE COMMUNITY

From March 2003 the regiment in the Barracks is the 1RGBW (First Battalion Royal Gloucester, Berkshire and Wiltshire regiment)

Our Drop In Centre continues to be busy and we have received funding to continue up to early 2006.

Our Beat Bobby comes to the Drop In on a second Monday and you will see elsewhere on this website that we have a monthly advice session for Hounslow Home tenants and the Hounslow Racial Equality Council comes in fortnightly.

The Community Minibus Fund is now complete thanks to the Big Lottery Fund and the Garfield Weston Foundation and we took delivery of the Minibus during Winter 2004.
