GOOD
SHEPHERD: October 2004
1. Tubbs Diet
Club
Having had a diet franchise on the
Estate with admission charges that failed to reflect the area, the Good Shepherd
has provided the venue for a community based diet club which meets weekly on
Wednesdays at 6.00pm and for which the entrance fee is £1 per session.
We are all aware about how important health is and so the club which started
in early September is not being overwhelmed with custom! We have set 18th November
as our target date and if numbers do not pick up we will have to close the Diet
Club down: any publicity you can give will be most welcome!
2. Kathryn Harries
This
international opera singer, following a much acclaimed season at Glyndebourne
is returning to the Good Shepherd at her request for a concert on Sunday 24th
October at 7.30pm. Details are attached on the accompanying poster and we look
forward to a good turn out for this exceptional artiste.
At the time of going
to press we do not have details of her programme but last year's concert had
everything from opera to Broadway hits so most tastes will be catered for!
Please publicise this event and the proceeds will be going to charities at home
and abroad.
3. Festival of Light
The Good Shepherd has an
annual service for all those who have lost loved ones in the last year around
All Souls Tide and many come back who have lost loved ones over many years. Over
40 personal invitations have been sent out for this year's service on 31st October
at 6.30pm at the Good Shepherd Church. Again publicity for this would be appreciated.
